Clare Gogerty is a writer and journalist who lives on a smallholding in Herefordshire, England. She contributes lifestyle and travel features to The Guardian, Conde Nast Traveller, English Heritage Magazine, and Which? Travel among many others. She is also the author of several books. Having spent decades in London, she has abundant personal experience of urban gardening, from running a community growing project to planting a mini orchard and creating a wildlife-friendly front garden.

Maria Nilsson is the illustrator behind this book and others in the Explore More series, including 50 Things to Do with a Penknife, 40 Knots and How to Tie Them, 50 Things to See in the Sky, 50 Things to Do in the Wild, and 50 Things to Do at the Beach. She lives in London, England.
